Many people come to Bridal Faire when it is time to plan a quinceanera. Many of the wedding professionals are needed when hosting a quinceanera. Most Latin American families consider a girl's 15th birthday of the utmost importance and treat it much like a wedding. The parents of the celebrant spend generously on the many elements that make up a Quinceanera: the celebrant's ball gown, dresses and tuxedos for the damas and chambelanes, and the celebratory feast. The family will be shopping for dresses, tuxedos, decorations, dj’s, caterer, venues. photographers, videographers, gifts, flowers, and maybe transportation. Sounds just like a wedding.
It is a combination of the Spanish words quince "fifteen" and años "years". The term may also be used to refer to a girl's 15th birthday party, although this is more often referred to as a "fiesta de quince años" or "fiesta de quinceañera.
There's no specific required gift amount for a quinceañera. The monetary gift amount will likely depend on your relationship to the hosting family, the size of the party, and your ability to give. Typically, an average gift amount will be no less than $50.
There is a male equivalent of a quinceanera, which is a quinceanero. If you check with companies in central Texas, they do Quinceaneras and Quinceaneros, every month, all year long! Yes, quinceaneros are less prominent, but they do happen!
